Namfrel tally: 12 party-list groups assured of 19 seats


At least 12 party-list organizations led by Buhay Hayaang Yumabong (Buhay) and the militant Bayan Muna are assured of obtaining seats at the House of Representatives for the incoming 14th regular session. Based on the partial and unofficial count of the National Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel), as of 12:34 a.m. Friday, party-list groups will occupy at least 19 seats at the Lower House. Of the total 6,280,090 votes cast for the party-list elections, Buhay cornered 416,723 votes or 6.64 percent which entitles them the maximum of three seats. Bayan Muna comes second with 392,456 votes or 6.25 percent - also qualifies them for three seats. Citizens Battles Against Corruption (Cibac); women’s group Gabriela and APEC, received more than four percent of the total votes cast for party-list groups, which will be their ticket to get two seats each. Other party-list groups who managed to get the minimum two percent to get a seat in Congress are A Teacher (3.48%); Akbayan (2.94%); COOP-NATCCO (2.86%); Anakpawis (2.40%); Anak Mindanao or AMIN (2.36%); AGAP (2.24%) and ARC (2.23%). - GMANews.TV
